Harley Heritage Softail®

The Harley Heritage Softail® first introduced in June of 1983, The Softail frame was designed to appear rigid and hardtail, but still offer the comfort of the rear suspension. This awesome bike has become a Harley favorite. The Softail is the most popular model for customizing and is often used for show bikes.

A Dark Harley-Davidson® Classic with a Modern Edge. Dripping with gangster-era style and vintage details, this bike is one of a kind. The reinvented frame retains the classic lines, but its lightweight design and stiffness translate to a responsive ride, unlike anything you’ve felt before.

The Softail has more features than we can mention, but here are a few. It has a Milwaukee-Eight Big Twin Engine. A powerful, smooth-running engine with crisp throttle response and a pure, soul satisfying rumble. Lockable and sealed saddlebags. This creates a sleek look on the outside and roomy on the inside. Don’t forget about the high-performance front suspension. Harleys Sophisticated technology provides the performance of a racing-style cartridge fork for reduced weight with linear damping characteristics.

Harley has developed some of the most iconic motorcycles of all time and is continuously improving and developing new products to hold up to their legacy. Stop by Salem Harley-Davidson® and Find Your Dream Ride Today!

Harley-Davidson® Softail Street Bob

Call Me Bob, But Don’t Call Me Dyna.

What we wanted to know at Cycle World was how one of the bikes formerly known as Dyna, such as the 2018 Street Bob, is expressed as a Softail.

Like, does it feel legit?

Is it better than the Dyna?

Yes!

It doesn’t feel the same, but it feels good. Our Street Bob with its Milwaukee-Eight 107 is super quick.

The Street Bob 103 we dyno tested recently made 65 hp and 88 pound-feed, by comparison. A useful increase, and combined with the reduced weight, makes for spirited blasting around on the Bob.

Chassis feedback, damping, and steering feel are all superior to that of previous Dynas. This is quality damping at work, and the first time we felt the “squish” of rebound-damping control at play, we were pleasantly surprised. Turn-in is crisp, steering is far more neutral, and the bike held its line well.

It’s still a cruiser in terms of cornering clearance, but in a cruiser state of mind, you can ride hard. The profile is similar to that of the previous bike, and it’s pretty stripped down in terms of styling and presence.

This bike is now lettered up as FXBB, and, at least, you won’t have any trouble wondering by its code name if it’s a Dyna. Because this is definitely not a Dyna, and there’s nothing wrong with that at all.
